On 21st June the European Commission’s Energy Communities Repository will be launching an open call for energy communities in Europe to apply for a range of technical support.
The energy community can be at any stage of development, whether it’s an informal group of local people wanting to do community energy projects, or whether it’s a legal entity that has already developed projects but needs support to do more.
The potential assistance available includes feasibility studies, support developing financial models, twinnings with other energy communities, direct support from national experts and EU-wide capacity building webinars.
The Repository will provide technical support to energy communities whose activities are primarily in urban areas. For rural communities, a second initiative has also been established, the Rural Energy Communities Advisory Hub. The two programmes will be working closely together, and if a community applies for technical assistance under one programme but it is felt that the activities would be best served via the other, we will get in touch with to confirm suggest transferal.
